General-duty citation text
Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to falls during roofing: a) Workers were exposed to a 22 foot fall hazard from the roof of the pool building, on or about September 9, 1992. Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable abatement method to correct this hazard is to require the use of safety belts, lifelines, standard railing, catch platforms, or other means of fall protection. OR IN THE ALTERNATIVE 29 CFR 1926.28(a): Appropriate personal protective equipment was not worn by employees in all operations where there was exposure to hazardous conditions: a Pool Building - Employees were not provided with fall protection while performing roofing operations and exposed to a 22 foot fall hazard, on or about September 9, 1992.
