What this inspection record means

OSHA opens inspections for many reasons — routine scheduling under a national or local emphasis program, an employee complaint or referral, or a follow-up after a reported injury. Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The
employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which
were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause
death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were
exposed to the hazard of falling approximately 28 feet to the ground
below. A material/catch platform was used on the Skytrak rough terrain
fork lift truck to elevate employee(s) oto the 12/12/ pitch roof at
the west side of the job site to install 4 X 8 sheets of sheeting.
Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable abatement method to
correct this hazard is to have employee(s) gain access to the roof
through the rafters using a ladder, first ensuring that the catch
platform is already set in place at the eave of the building to provide
proper protection to the employee(s) as they are climbing through the
rafters.
