Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees wee exposed to: a) Automotive Services Area, employees were exposed to the possibility of being struck or crushed while working under or around the 9 Globe Automotive lifts that were not provided with a automatic safety device. Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable abatement methods to correct this hazard is to install a automatic safety device on each lift using American National Standards Institute, B153.1 as a guideline.
