Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to: (a) The hazard of being struck by or crushed by the load in that in the lift truck maintenance area the Clark tow tractor #2 Serial #CIAE-30-77-4440 was left suspended on one end by a Coffing hand chain powered two-ton hoist. Among other methods one feasible and acceptable method to correct this hazard is to use adequate jack stands or cribbing to safely support the load.

Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to: (a) Employee(s) were exposed to the hazard of explosion and/or fire in that water, damp sand and hydraulic oil were allowed to be present in the pit under the two direct arc melting furnaces while melting and molten metal tapping operations were taking place. Feasible and acceptable abatement methods to correct these hazards include but are not limited to: 1) Not pouring, tapping or melting while water, damp sand or hydraulic oil is in the pit. 2) Cleaning out the pit prior to melting, pouring and tapping.
