Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970:    The
employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which
were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause
death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were
exposed to:
(a)  Lincoln Hall Jr. High, 6855 Crawford, Lincolnwood,
IL - On or about July 21, 1994, employees were handling
and moving a 1,200 pound motor control center from the
first floor to the boiler room.  Employee(s) were exposed
to the hazard of being struck or pinned beneath the motor
control center and to acute back injuries when manually
handling the center to move it from the first floor to the
boiler room, a vertical distance of approximately 4 feet.
Among other methods, feasible and acceptable methods to
correct these hazards include, but are not limited to the
following:
(1)A properly rigged and rated chain hoist used in
accordance with ANSI standard B30.16 1987.
(2)Use of two properly rated pallet trucks one on the
first floor, the other on the boiler room floor, by
having the pallet truck on the first floor lower the
motor control center onto the engaging means of the
second truck.
