Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970:  The

recognized hazards that
were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to
employees in that employees
were exposed to:
Potential fire/explosion from a Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) leak/spill
when LP-Gas
delivery/cargo vehicles were parked inside the building for various
repairs:
(a)  Fleet Maintenance shop; LP bobtail delivery truck ( Lic. No. MN YM
8864 ) was
inside the building during periodic ( 5 year ) hose replacement work. An
attempt was
made to blown down the LP gas system from the internal valve to the
delivery hose but
the cargo tank was nearly full.
(b)  Fleet Maintenance shop; LP bobtail delivery truck ( Lic. No. MN YM
98283
) was
inside the building for grease, oil and filter that contained LP-Gas in
the tank and piping
system. The building in which the repairs were done did not comply with
NFPA 58
Chapter 7.
Feasible abatement methods include, but are not limited to, the following:
1.  Do non-labor intensive work outside of the building.
2.  For labor intensive engine or chassis work, follow NFPA 58 6-6.2.3(a).
3.  For labor intensive work on the LP-Gas system, follow NFPA 58
6-6.2.3(c).
4.  Take repairs to public garage or repair facility, follow NFPA 58
6-6.2.3(b).
