Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to: (a)Shop; Wysong press brake, Model # E-116, used to bend metal, point of operation was not guarded and a foot pedal was used to initiate the stroke. Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable abatement method to correct this hazard is to: Implement an effective "Safe Distance" Safeguarding Program as described in ANSI B11.3 - 1982, Safety Requirements for Construction, Care, and Use of Power Press Brakes. Elements of the program include: (a)Exposure prevention procedures (b)Training (c)Retraining (d)Supervision (e)Periodic inspections
