Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to: a) The hazard of being struck by falling trusses at Windmill Lakes site, Bldg. #20, Hollywood, FL 33025; in that the lateral braces were not continuous and were not properly secured (two 8 P nails were used together with 1"x4"x30" lumber pieces) to the top chord to prevent toppling and dominoing of erected trusses. Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable method of abating these hazards, is to install truss bracing in accordance with the requirements of the Truss Plate Institute contained in B.W.T. 76, Bracing Wood Trusses.
