General-duty citation text
Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likley to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to: (a) Organic peroxides were observed being stored with all other flammable and combustible chemicals in the same flammable storage area and wooden cabinet, near the spray area at the southeast corner of the building. Organic peroxides are known to be among the most hazardous substances normally handled in industry. As a class, they are low-power explosives hazardous due to their extreme sensitivity to shock, sparks, or other forms of accidental ignition. For this reason, Organic peroxides must be stored separately.
