Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: On
or about 7/13/88, the employer did not furnish employment and a place of
employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or
likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that:
a- Packaging Room, employees using pressure vessels to fill containers
with brazing powder were exposed to the hazard of flying metal parts
from the explosion of an overpressurized pressure vessel which was
not manufactured in accordance with the A.S.M.E. Section VIII,
pressure vells and the N.J. Office of Boiler & Pressure Vessel
Compliance.
One feasible and acceptable method, among others, to correct this hazard
is to maintain the internal operating pressure below 15 PSIG at all
times.
