Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The
employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were
free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death
or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to
falls of approximately 12 feet:
a) On or about December 3, 1990, at the Northwest Area, an
employment was exposed to falls of 12 feet to the ground level,
in that the employee was stripping forms from the beam without
any fall protection.
Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable abatement method to
correct this hazard is to utilize safety belts or harnesses while
employee(s) are working at these heights.
