Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The

employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were
free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death
or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to:
a) Inadequate and insufficient bracing and inadequate nails were used in
a truss erection project; specifically, short 1 by 3's (1x3's) were
used where 8 foot long 2 by 4's (2x4's) were required, insufficient
diagonal and horizontal bracing was used and 6 penny nails were used
where 16 penny nails were required, exposing employees to the hazard
of collapsing trusses, on or about 4/20/88 at 3009 US 19 North,
Clearwater, FL.
Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable abatement method to
correct this hazard is to follow all the guidance in BWT-76 and adhere
to its rules regarding the use of 2 by 4's (2x4's) for all bracing, the
use of 16 penny double-headed nails in all cases, and the use of
sufficient diagonal and horizontal bracing.
