General-duty citation text
Section 5 (a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to falling loads: a) Paint Spray Booth, eight (8) axle trailer Dorsey SN 37528 & 22,432 lbs, rear end of trailer suspended by a Budget chain hoist rated 3 Ton and 3/8 inch chain slings: four (4) spray painters performed work under the suspended rear end of the trailer, on or about June 6, 1995. AMONG OTHER METHODS, ONE FEASIBLE AND ACCEPTABLE ABATEMENT METHOD TO CORRECT THIS HAZARD IS TO PROVIDE HOIST EQUIPMENT THAT IS RATED ABOVE THE LOAD TO BE LIFTED TO PREVENT AN OVERLOAD AND TO PLACE SUPPORTING EQUIPMENT UNDER THE TRAILER.
