Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to crushing and amputation from unintended activation. a) Wire Mill, Wire Drawer machines Nos. 50, 54, 56, 61, operator side, foot operated inch bar: foot operated inch bar was not protected against unintended operation exposing the operators to exposed nip points created by wire running onto the blocks when servicing the machine. among other methods, one feasible and acceptable abatement method to correct this hazard is to guard the foot bar. ABATEMENT CERTIFICATION AND DOCUMENTATION REQUIRED
