Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The
employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were
free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death
or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to
the hazard of falling from a painters pick scaffold:
a) At the job site. Two employees in the process of painting the
underside of a bridge 15' above concrete ground level were working
from a paitners pick scaffold wihtout fall protection.
Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable abatemetn method to
correct this hazard is to assure that employees use lifelines, safety
belts and lanyards.
Atlas Maintenance Company Inc. was previously cited for a violation
of this Occupational Safety and Health standard or its equivalent
standard 29 CFR 1926.28(a), which was contained in OSHA inspection
