Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to: Dentists, Dental Hygienists and Assistant Dental Hygienists were exposed to the hazard of being infected by HBV/HIV through possible direct contact with blood or other obily fluids. Feasible and useful abatement methods for reducing this hazard, among others, are: 1) Training and education on precautionary measures, proper work practices and understanding the concept of universal precautions as it applies to their work practices. 2) Developing follow-up procedures for implementation after possible exposure to HBV/HIV that includes appropriate testing of employee and other appropriate procedures as outlined by the Center for Disease Control. 3) Soiled linen shall be bagged at the location where it was used and shall be transported in bags the prevent leakage.
