Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to the hazard of infection by HIV and/or HBV through direct contact with blood and body fluids: (a) HBV vaccinations were not made available to laundry workers who handle contaminated materials. Feasible and useful abatement methods for reducing the hazards, among others, are: (1) Offer HBV vaccinations to all employees where potential exposure to blood and body fluids is a substantial risk.
