a) The Tovel Rough Terrain Forklift was used to raise and lower employees
to and from the top
of structural steel joists that were being erected.  Tovel Lift Model
6.4.22, S/N 6923349 was
being used.  This exposed employees to falls up to 27 feet to gravel.
AMONG OTHER METHODS, ONE FEASIBLE AND ACCEPTABLE ABATEMENT
METHOD TO CORRECT THIS HAZARD IS:
To use a safety platform secured to the lifting carriage and/or forks as
stipulated
by ANSI
B56.1-1975, sections 427 and 513A, American National Standard for Powered
Industrial Trucks
(lowlift and highlift trucks).
