Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to the hazard of being struck-by uncontrolled rotating parts or clothing being caught by machine: a)Site 513-535 W. 20th Street New York, N.Y. basement: Employees were using a Ridge 400 pipe threader which was not provided with a foot pedal or momentary contact device to shut off the machine. On or about 4/11/97. Abatement Note: Feasible and useful methods to control this hazard include but are not limited to providing momentary contact device, (switch, foot pedal) as required in ANSI B205.1 1982 Section 4.4.ion
