Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that an employee was exposed to the hazard of falling from a ladder: a)The Mote Press House - An employee was observed standing on the pail shelf of a step ladder, on or about 12/14/94. Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable method to correct this hazard is to prohibit standing on the pail shelf in accordance with the American National Standards Institute Safety Code for Portable Wood Ladders (ANSI A14.1-1990) paragraph 8.3.2(1).
