Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970:  The
employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which
were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause
death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were
exposed to:
(a)  A pneumatic-driven car-type conveyor transports the "R-E"
panel forms about the production line.  The line operator pulls the
control to initiate motion of the line, after verifying that no
employees are in the tracks.  Employees crossing over or standing
on the tracks receive no warning before motion of the conveyor begins
and are exposed to being struck by the conveyor.
Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable abatement method
to correct this hazard is to comply with American National Standards
Institute B 20.1 Par. 705(a), which requires conveyors less than
seven feet above the floor to be provided with crossovers or
passages.  Alternatively, employees could be warned immediately before
the conveyor moves by a warning signal recoognizable over the
surrounding noise.
