Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The
employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were
free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death
or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to:
The hazard of being struck by a falling load in the event the trolley
on the crane should strike the end of the boom or the crane cab.
Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable abatement method to
correct this hazard is to install limit switches as specified in ANSI
B30.3-1975 {3-1.2.5(a.1)}.
a) Agana Beach Hotel Project - BPR 6.5R 12 ton Hammerhead Tower Crane
did not have limit switches to limit the trolley travel at either
end of the jib.
