Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to the hazards of falling when unhooking and rehooking lanyards, when moving from one point to another, to weld trusses and prulings: (a) Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable method of abatement to correct this hazard is to: a. Establish a overhead staticline so employees would be tied off at all times. b. Work off of scaffolds. c. Work out of aerial lifts. d. Furnish employees two lanyards. e. Train employees in the use of safety belts and lanyards, and how to inspect them for defects.
