Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The %% employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to structural collapse due to lack of bracing: (a) Shopko Warehouse Site, 1001, East Bowen Road, Boise, Idaho On November 20, 1991 and at times prior thereto, external bracing of Area 8 was not provided prior to placing joists or construction loads on the structure. Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable abatement method to correct this hazard is: Ensure that steel erection sub-contractor provides external bracing such as guy wires immediately after placing columns and girders and prior to joists and/or any other loads.
