Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970:  The

employer did not
furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from
recognized hazards that
were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to
employees  exposed to
increased risk of aggravation to existing injuries and illnesses and
developing further injuries and
illnesses:
(a)Processing and Deboning Departments.  Where employee(s) underwent
surgery
for upper extremity CTD's.  After surgery, these employees were not given
adequate
days off work nor given an appropriate type or length of restricted work
activity.
(b)Processing and Deboning Department.  Where employee(s) sustained
CTD's.
Employees were not given adequate days off nor were they given an
appropriate type or
length of restricted work activity.
Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable abatement method to
correct
this hazard is
the implementation of an effective medical management program for CTD's.
