Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to possible shock or electrocution: (a) M/V Aleutian Falcon: An electric heating cord was observed wrapped around a metal water pipe and not guarded against damage, in accordance with OSHA standard 29 CFR 1910.303 and the National Electric Code 70, article 427, to protect employees working in and around that area. Among other methods of abatement, one feasible method of abatement is to use another method of insulation to prevent the water from freezing.
