Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970:    The
employer did not
furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from
recognized hazards that
were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to
employees in that employees
were exposed to:
(a)  On or about January 27, 1994, and possibly at times prior to that
date, employees
were exposed to the potential for serious injury from falls while working
from a forkliftelevated work platform.
Among other methods, feasible and acceptable abatement methods to correct
this hazard would
be:
1)  To ensure all employees are protected from falls or other serious
injury while
working from an elevated work platform by following the safety standards
set forth by
ANSI B56.1d1992 4.17.2(c) & 7.35.1(2) requiring the use of body belts and
lanyards.
2)  To ensure all employees are protected from falls or other serious
injury while
working from an elevated work platform by following the safety standards
set forth by
ANSI B56.1d1992 7.35.1(1) for guardrail specifications and construction.
3)  To ensure all employees are protected from falls or other serious
injury while
working from an elevated work platform by following the safety standards
set forth by
ANSI B56.1d1992 7.35.3 for work platform specifications and construction.
