Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970:  The
employer did not
furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from
recognized hazards
that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to
employees in that
employees were exposed to:
(a) North House, employees were exposed to potential fall hazards while
operating the
manually operated manlift which was not provided with guardrails on all
sides of the
manlift car.  Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable method to
correct
this hazard would be install a complete enclosure on the manlift.
(b) North House, employees were exposed to a potential crushing hazard
while
working near the manually operated manlift which was not provided with
guardrails
around the base of the manlift. Among other methods, one feasible and
acceptable
method to correct this hazard would be to install a protective guardrail
around
the
base of the manlift.l
