Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The %% employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to danger from overhead PVC pipe carrying compressed air: (a) K-Tex Apparel: Employees are exposed to danger from compressed air inside PVC pipe unrated for that purpose. Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable abatement method to correct this hazard is the complete enclosure of the PVC pipe in a conduit or casing of sufficient strength to provide protection from external damage and deterioration. The replacement of the PVC pipe with a type of pipe approved for the use with compressed air, e.g. ABS (Acrylonitrile-Butadiene-Styrene) and/or other approved piping.
