Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to: (a) United States Air Force, Building 870: On or about 8-18-92 and at times prior thereto employees were exposed to the hazard of being crushed while being permitted to work under #1, 2, 3 & 4 automotive hoists when safety latches or support stands were not provided. Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable abatement method to correct this hazard is to provide supporting stands under each of the twin post hoists when in the raised position.
