Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to potential crushing injuries due to unstable log deck: a) Landing and log deck, Partridge Creek logging site - Logs were not placed and/or removed in a manner to prevent the hazards of rolling and shifting logs; in that, the logs were left in a nearly vertical stack, exposing employees to the hazard of rolling or shifting logs; observed July 31, 1990. Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable method to correct this hazards is: Place logs in an remove from log decks in a straight and orderly manner to control the hazard of rolling and shifting logs.
