Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970:  The
employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were
free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or
serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to the
hazard of:
Employees were exposed to the hazard of a fall of approximately 11 feet
from the first floor level to the Grocery Stock Room.  Routine inspection
and corrective maintenance measures were not conducted on three (3) "Giant
Lift" vertical conveyors.
Among other methods one feasible and acceptable abatement method to
correct
this hazard is to "Establish and conduct routine inspections and provide
corrective maintenance when needed for the purpose of preventing a
hazardous condition to employee(s) and to ensure that all safety features
are retained and function properly in the event of a structural,
mechanical
or electrical failure.
