General-duty citation text
Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to: (a) Airside, Concourse A, Roof; Employees were getting drinks of water from a water cooler that was located approximately 2 1/2 to 3 feet from the edge of the roof. There was no fall protection for employees. The fall hazard to employees was 30 feet to the ground. Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable abatement method to correct this hazard is the use and enforcement of safety belts/lanyards/lifelines or the installation of guardrails at the edge of the roof.
