Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to serious injury from lifting, pulling and pushing tasks with no enigneering or administrative controls: A) Railway Terminal and Car dealerships: Truck drivers were expoed to serious injury when lifting, pulling, and pushing trailer ramps for unloading automobiles from the trailers. A feasible and useful method to correct the hazard, among other methods, would be to detach the extension piece of the ramp and reattaching it after the front piece has been pulled out.
