Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The %% employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees, in that, employees were exposed to the hazards of standing in the pit of a moving flight conveyor, which creates a pinch point with the ground, and where nip points are created between the two flight chains and their sprockets without the presence of an emergency trip wire or emergency stop buttons: (a) Foundry: An emergency trip wire or stop buttons were not provided at the tail end of the sand trench conveyor. One method of abatement, among others, is to install an emergency stop wire.
