Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The %% employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to: a) At the #2 Tar Tank Repair Area: An employee erecting scaffolding at 20 feet above the ground was involved in a stationary work process of modifying a scaffold assembly and the employee was exposed to a 20 foot fall hazard and he was not provided with and required to wear a safety belt with lanyard secured to protect against the fall hazard. Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable abatement method to correct this hazard is the use of safety belts.
