Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The %% employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were not using life line (anchorage line) of wire rope of at least 1/2 inch diameter and capable of supporting 5400 pounds of deadweight load per person applied at the center of the life line or anchorage line. Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable abatement method to correct this hazard is to use wire rope of sufficient size and strength to support the required 5400 pounds deadweight load per person as stipulated in Article 3.2.7 of ANSI A10.14-1975.
