Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employmnent and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to: trip, fall and burn hazards when the metal gratings, which served as an extension to the unguarded, elevated platform from which they were working, were damaged/bent, misaligned/uneven and detached at the hot metal pouring platform #2 in the open hearth pit area of the Electric Arc Furnace department. "AMONG OTHER METHODS, ONE FEASIBLE AND ACCEPTABLE ABATEMENT METHOD TO CORRECT THIS HAZARD IS TO REPAIR OR REPLACE THE GRATES THAT ARE BENT, MISALIGNED, UNEVEN AND DETACHED TO SUCH CONDITION THAT THEY DO NOT CAUSE TRIP, FALL AND CONTACT WITH HOT MOLTEN METAL HAZARDS"
