Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to the hazard of excessive levels of ozone gas. a) Ozonation Building: Employees must periodically enter the ozonation building located approximately 100ft. from the Colorado River Ride. An interlock device which prevents the ozone generator from operating without a ventilation fan runing was defeated on two (2) separate occasions. In the event of an ozone leak and no air changes, ozone levels could build up to dangerous levels in a short time. Feasible and acceptable abatement methods include but are not limited to Implementation of an enforcable policy which assures that the interlock is not defected and that the interlock works properly at all times. Violation observed on 8/7/89 and 9/1/89.
