Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The Employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment that were free of recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that the employee was exposed to THE HAZARD OF FALLING: a)West side of Building, on or about 6/13/00: Emergency decent equipment(equipment which is operational in the down direction only) was used for a window cleaning operation. ABATEMENT NOTES: Ensure that emergency decent equipment is not used for window cleaning operations per American National Standards Institute, Requirements For Window Cleaning, ASME/ANSI A39.1-1987, paragraph 11.3 Abatement certification must be submitted for this item.
