Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to: (a) In the Northwest corner of the auto repair shop department employees were required to work under fully extended hydraulic lifts with failed locking devices, and a damaged lever control spring, thereby subjecting the employees to the possibility of being struck by a vehicle or caught between a vehicle and the floor if the automotive lift mechanically failed. A feasible means of correcting the hazard is to repair the lift locking devices and the broken lever spring so as to conform the specifications referenced in ANSI "B153.1. Section 3.1.10/1974.
