Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to: (a) In Bay 3 south of the shop area employees were required to work under a fully extended hydraulic front end alignment rack without permanent safety latches, thereby subjecting employees to the possibility of being struck by a vehicle or caught between a vehicle and the floor if the vehicle rolled off. A feasible means of correcting the hazard is to install the safety latches so as to conform to the specifications, referenced in ANSI "B153.1 Section 3.1.10/1974. (b) In Bay 2 north and Bay 2 south in the shop area employees were required to work under fully extended electric hoists with failed safety locking devices (cables of ratchets), thereby subjecting the employees to the possibility of being struck by a vehicle or caught between a vehicle and the floor if the hoist mechanically failed. A feasible means of correcting the hazard is to conform to the specifications referenced in ANSI "B153.1 Section 3.1.10/1974.
