Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The %% employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to gunshot from weapons handled, serviced, or repaired on the premises: Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable abatement method to correct this hazard is to enforce and utilize the gun safety rules such as that stipulated by the establishment, with essential elements including: 1) checking gun chambers when they enter the shop, 2) checking gun chambers prior to starting work, 3) checking gun chambers if they have been out of sight, 4) checking barrels for obstructions prior to test firing, and 5) chambering live rounds only when muzzle is inside test
