Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees Radio-Remote-Control Locomotives with defects or in any way unsafe had not been withdrawn from service until restored to safe operating conditions: (a) West Mifflin Yard, Number 469, General Motors Locomotives, Serial Number 85311; The locomotive had a warning horn, bell and sanders that was inoperable. Employees exposed to being struck by the locomotive. Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable abatement method to correct this hazard is to repair the warning horn, bell and sanders. In addition, a pre-operation inspection checklist of the locomotive and associated radio-remote-control equipment prior to each operating shift should be developed and implemented at the
