Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to: (A) Weld Shop: Employees were exposed to severe injury in the event of the pedestal grinder abrasive wheel exploding while grinding on the side of the wheel. A feasible method to control this hazard is to instruct employees immediately to not grind on the side of the wheel and to explain to employees the potential for injury resulting from an exploding wheel.
