Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970:  The
employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which
were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause
death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were
potentially exposed to the hazard of chemical burns of the skin and
eyes and the potential of chlorine inhalation caused by the accidental
reaction of incompatible chemicals that were stored together:
(a)  Maintenance Shop, Chemical Storage Area;  Employees were
exposed to the potential hazard of chlorine inhalation and skin
and eye chamical burns from accidental reaction of products
(containing incompatable chemicals stored together.  A 15 gallon
drum of "M-95" (hydrochloric acid) was stored near containers
of "Clorox" and "Oven and Grill Cleaner" having sodium
hypochlorite and sodium hydroxide as ingredients.
Feasible and useful abatement methods for reducing this hazard among
others are:
1.  Separate incompatable chemicals and store them a remote
distance from one another.
