Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish a place of employment free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to the hazards of fire/explosion: a.Main Plant - The wood dust collection system was deficient in that incoming ducts were not protected by a spark detection and suppression system; air was recycled back into the plant without benefit of explosion suppression systems or abort dampers; the bag filters were not segregated from the plant floor and vented with explosion vents or an explosion suppression system. Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable abatement method to correct this hazard is to install a dust collection system in accordance with NFPA
