Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The %% employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to hazards of the rapid release of energy due to pressure differential between the inside of the containment building and and the outside atmospheric pressure. a.Containment Personnel Airlock - Employees working in and around the Containment Building were not protected from the hazards associated with a rapid release of energy due to a lack of adequate procedures, lack of proper equipment, and a lack of adequate employee training. ABATEMENT NOTE: Among other methods, the following is an acceptable abatement method to correct this hazard: Develop procedures to do the job safely and provide the equipment and training necessary to implement the procedures.
