Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The
employer did not furnish
employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized
hazards that were
causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in
that employees were
exposed to hazards of being crushed by the failure of the temporary
bridge due to the lack of
sufficient support for all the bridge components during the dismantling
process:
a.Bridge Dismantling Worksite - Sufficient support to all components of
the
temporary bridge were not provided during the dismantling process.
ABATEMENT NOTE:  Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable
abatement method
to correct this hazard is to provide temporary supports to the bridge to
insure  it is adequately
supported to prevent collapse during the dismantling procedures.
