Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to the hazard of being struck by vehicular traffic: a. Route 132, Overpass of Route 93, Northfield, NH - An employee walking and working by vehicular traffic was not provided with and required to wear a warning vest or other suitable garment marked with or made with reflectorized or high-visibility material. b. Route 93, South Lane at Mile 52, Northfield, NH - An employee walking and working by vehicular traffic was not provided with and required to wear a warning vest or other suitable garment marked with or made with reflectorized or high-visibility material. ABATEMENT NOTE: Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable abatement method to correct this hazard is to provide employeees with suitable warning vests and require them to be worn when employees are exposed to vehicular traffic. THE TRI-STATE PAINTING INC. WAS PREVIOUSLY CITED FOR A VIOLATION OF THIS OCCUPATIONAL SAFETY AND HEALTH STANDARD SECTION 5(a)(1) WHICH WAS CONTAINED IN OSHA INSPECTION NUMBER 017902339, CITATION NUMBER 1, ITEM NUMBER 1, ISSUED ON 12/9/92.
